FROM OUR FOUNDING BELIEFS

we've built a long history of student success.

An Integrated School District Partner

The 49ers Academy is an independent, 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization.

Our services are integrated into the school day at Cesar Chavez Ravenswood Middle School (CCRMS) and Menlo Atherton High School (MAHS). This means our highly trained, passionate team is on-site to advocate for East Palo Alto public school students every day.

Touching Lives, Changing Futures

Over 25 years, we’ve established that collaboration and accessibility combine to unlock students’ academic success.

  • Collaboration - We build partnerships with parents, teachers, school district leaders, and community service agencies to meet students’ holistic needs.
  • Accessibility - We create individualized wraparound support and case management through mentorship, family empowerment, academic success, enrichment opportunities, community engagement, and social-emotional learning.

Our model.

The 49ers Academy works in partnership with public schools, currently Ravenswood (RCSD) and Sequoia (SUHSD) school districts.

We’re embedded in the school day and provide wraparound support—a system of care management that addresses students’ dynamic, holistic needs.

Students are referred to the program beginning in 6th grade. Once paired with a skilled caseworker, we assess the student’s and family’s individual needs and develop a long-term plan with targeted academic and personalized support.

We make a seven-year commitment (6th grade to 12th grade) to each and every student in the program. Every day is aimed at keeping youth on track to graduate high school and reach their full potential.

Our focus.

The 49ers Academy elevates students’ engagement and focuses through four channels:

  • School-wide strategies - We advocate for students and families. We work with school leaders to implement solutions that create an equitable school community and support students’ comprehensive needs.
  • Targeted, needs-based services - We identify students experiencing hardship outside the classroom or falling behind in school and deploy services to make a difference. This includes enrichment opportunities, academic-focused programming, and family empowerment.
  • Intensive individualized support - We assign caseworkers to students and families with the most need and highest risk. Caseworkers coordinate efforts with school administrators, track students’ academic progress and connect families to community service agencies.
  • Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) - We create a trusted space for students to strengthen social skills, positive identity, and academic self-efficacy.
