Building on strong relationships developed during middle school, the 49ers Academy provides a safe and welcoming space for East Palo Alto students to thrive as they navigate Menlo-Atherton High School.

Situated in the heart of Silicon Valley, MAHS is demographically distinct from Cesar Chavez Ravenswood Middle School. The majority of MAHS students come from affluent communities and have benefited from robust educational and extracurricular experiences. Without support from the 49ers Academy, East Palo Alto students can face a competitive disadvantage at MAHS.

Through academic support and needs-based services, our high school program keeps students on track to graduate and pursue post-secondary plans.

The high school program delivers:

• Mentors to help students prepare for SATs, complete college applications, and apply for scholarships
• Specialized college campus tours
• Student connections to internships, job shadowing, and leadership training courses
• Workshops to promote college and career readiness
• Partnership with school administrators to build a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable school environment that engages students and families in culturally responsive ways
• Meaningful opportunities to shape the school district’s efforts to advance equity by educating school leaders about microaggressions and bias
