Womxn's History Month honors phenomenal women who have paved the way for growth and progress in our communities. This month, the San Francisco 49ers Academy celebrates the diversity and accomplishments of our women among our staff, students, and local community!
We sat down with Kathy, Ashley, Michelle, and Christine — four bright, determined young women in our High School Program. Read how you can make a difference in their futures.
Meet Michelle!
YEAR IN SCHOOL: Sophomore
DREAM JOB: Criminal Justice
Dear Future Self,
I have been with the Academy since 8th grade and wow, they have supported me so much for the past three years. My goal is to go to a four-year college and I know the Academy can help me get there.
A dream of mine is to go somewhere with snow, feel the ice and try skiing. As for a career, I love puzzles, and I am very interested in Criminal Justice. I would really enjoy shadowing someone in this field to understand what it is like and to learn.
Female empowerment is when women go for what they want regardless of what it is. This month, I would like to celebrate my four sisters. They mean so much to me.

YEAR IN SCHOOL: Junior
DREAM JOB: Herbalism, Traveling Journalist, Architect, or Interior Designer
Dear Future Self,
My favorite subjects are history and media. I love history because I like learning about historical architecture. It gives more of a perspective about how buildings are designed now. I like media and have loved learning how to use InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
I really like gardening, building things, designing things, and decorating. I have flowers and vegetables in my own garden. I also like writing stories and am writing my own book.
After high school, I would love to do an abroad program at some point. The Academy has helped me so much, and I would love support in finding internships, part-time jobs, or an opportunity to meet people close to my career interests.
Meet Ashley!
YEAR IN SCHOOL: Junior
DREAM JOB: Film/Media
Dear Future Self,
My dream job is film. I would love to go to film school and learn more about the industry, specifically video editing. I also have my own Youtube channel and create vlogs about my experience at M-A and at the 49ers Academy.
I would love to learn more about marketing, entrepreneurship, or anything media-related. Outside of school, I am on the leadership team for Live in Peace in East Palo Alto. My favorite part is building events to create a stronger sense of community.
This month, I am excited to acknowledge all the women in my life, especially those in the programs I am involved in, because they help me a lot. At the Academy, they help me stay on top of my grades and explore my interests.

YEAR IN SCHOOL: Senior
DREAM JOB: Real Estate or Accounting
Dear Future Self,
As a Senior in high school, my favorite subject is math, and my goal is to go into real estate or accounting. I have been applying to colleges for these majors, and I would love to shadow a real estate agent to see what their day-to-day work is like, as I think that would excite me about the opportunity and motivate me.
I also love sports. My favorite sport to play is volleyball and my favorite sport to watch is football. I would love to attend more sports events in the future. I love the energy at the games!
The women in my life, like my grandma, mom, and sister, play such an important role in my life. They are strong for me, teach me morals, and motivate me to be the best version of myself.
