Our community is hurting. Our country is hurting.
Our hearts are broken by the recent unjust deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd. Their lives matter. Black lives matter. The San Francisco 49ers Academy stands with our students and community in solidarity against this and all racial injustice.
These recent events serve as a stark reminder that racism, bigotry and hate have not disappeared in our world but in fact, have intensified.
These facts are unacceptable to us, as we know they are to each of you.
Events like these also leave a strong mark on students of color. They need us more than ever to stand with them, to fight for them, and to surround them with a community of support.
At the San Francisco 49ers Academy, we have a responsibility to support students of color in East Palo Alto. We empower students. We help them find their voice.
We will stand by our students through this trauma and injustice. We will continue doing whatever it takes to ensure equity in education, that every child in East Palo Alto has an equal chance for success. We will continue to empower students with the support they need to thrive in school, reach their full potential, and embark on a path to long-term success.
