April is National Volunteer Month! Volunteers are an integral part of the 49ers Academyâs mission, and we proudly celebrate them all.

Nick
A Menlo-Atherton High School alum, Nick started volunteering with our high school program when he was a high school student himself! He currently attends UC Berkeley and continues to volunteer as a tutor, helping our students understand and complete their homework assignments.
âHaving a place designed for completing schoolwork is vital for studentsâ mental health. The most important work I've seen the 49ers Academy do is provide that place.â - Nick
Joy
Joy met the 49ers Academy through a Twitter for Good event with our high school program. She participated in a panel that shared their career and experiences in the tech industry. Joy was so impressed by the Academyâs programs and students that she wanted to get more involved. She started bi-monthly mentoring sessions with Ashley, a curious and ambitious sophomore.
âAshley reminded me of myself at that age. Whenever I reflect on my high school experience, the one thing missing was a mentor.â - Joy
Bob & Jane
A dynamic duo, Bob and Jane have used their unique gifts and talents to further the Academyâs impact! Bob volunteered as a tutor to work with a student who was struggling with reading and was overall disengaged in school. Because of Bobâs encouragement and support, the student reengaged with his school work and now even looks forward to reading. Jane first volunteered her time as part of a Harvard Business School Community Partners team that helped the Academy strengthen its fundraising efforts. Since then, she has donated countless hours of her time and resources to ensure that our families have their basic needs met during the pandemic. They are truly a dynamic duo!
âThe 49ers Academy is making a positive impact in the lives of young people in East Palo Alto. You can see the change and the difference 49ers Academy makes directly to students and families in the community.â - Bob & Jane
To all of our volunteers, we tip our hats to you! Your work means more than you know. It is leaving a lasting impact on the lives of our students and their families. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. To learn more about how you can volunteer with the 49ers Academy, email info@49ersacademy:8890.
