Team members from the San Francisco 49ers, along with employees from Greenfields Outdoor Fitness and UnitedHealthcare, donated and installed new outdoor fitness equipment center at the 49ers Academy in East Palo Alto on Monday afternoon. Children from the school got to try out the new equipment after a ribbon-cutting by 49ers Reggie Smith, Vernon Davis and Donte Whitner.
49ers Director of Community Relations Joanne Pasternack said use of the equipment will be worked into the school's curriculum. "We are really excited. This is a permanent installment that will be used on a daily basis," she said.
