FROM OUR FOUNDING BELIEFS

we've built a long history of student success.

COVID-19 Response

As the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted life and schools closed beginning in March 2020, the 49ers Academy swung into overdrive. Throughout the pandemic, our staff have been directly in touch with individual students and families on a consistent weekly basis, delivering reliable 1-on-1 academic and emotional support to students, no matter the circumstances.

  • We partnered with the Ravenswood City School District (RCSD) and private donors to ensure that every 49ers Academy student has a Chromebook and internet access.
  • We raised funds (over $60,000 to date) for emergency assistance and direct support for families in the form of gifts cards and cash grants.
  • We launched Community Learning Hubs with RCSD in September 2020 to provide in-person, small-group assistance. These Community Learning Hubs offer a safe, quiet, tech-connected, structured learning environment where students participate in distance learning.
  • To help create a community and reduce isolation, we set up Google Classrooms where students could connect with their peers and our staff in engaging ways.
  • To help with engagement and enrichment, we planned and hosted drive-thru events celebrating graduation, Halloween and Christmas.

What to do if you can't pay rent:

California state law now protects all renters, who have lost income due to COVID-19, from eviction for non-payment of rent IF you take certain steps.

In addition, no one in California can be evicted without a good reason until February 1, 2021.

TO AVOID EVICTION FOR RENT YOU COULD NOT PAY DUE TO COVID-19, YOU MUST GIVE YOUR LANDLORD A COMPLETED AND SIGNED Declaration of COVID-19 Related Financial Distress NOW!

Make sure you take a photo or save a copy of the Declaration before mailing it to your landlord.

For all information related to this COVID-19 Tenant Relief Act of 2020, go to: https://www.youarecommunity.org/

Note: By January 31, 2021, you must pay at least 25% of rent due for the period of September 1, 2020 through January 31, 2021, BUT you have time to get help to pay this portion of the rent: https://www.youarecommunity.org/get-more-help

What to do if you get a suspicious call? Please beware of COVID 19 Scams!

If you get phone calls from “agents/companies” asking you to provide your bank account information in order to “set up their direct deposit for their COVID-19 stimulant check from the federal government”. THIS IS A SCAM.

You should NOT be providing any bank/personal information over the phone to any unknown entity. Legal Residence and Citizens who DO qualify for this federal aid package will get their check automatically either through "Direct Deposit" OR through regular postal mail. This is all based on what the IRS has on record for either 2018 or 2019 tax filing year NO FURTHER ACTION IS NEEDED!

INFORMATION FOR UNDOCUMENTED PARENTS AND FAMILIES:

As a gentle reminder please note that some of our parents/families residing in our community are undocumented and therefore are NOT ELIGIBLE for any type of federal government assistance (Including our current COVID-19 stimulant aid package). In addition please note that undocumented parents/families are NOT ELIGIBLE for unemployment benefits.

Unfortunately, these two options from the federal government are NON NEGOTIABLE for our undocumented parents/families and therefore you should NOT be providing any bank account information over the phone OR believing that the government recently made a change to the law as most people who are getting these scams/phone calls are being told.

Please be careful!
